Year of the Bible — Commercial

Over the years, I’ve enjoyed working on several projects with my good friend, Raul Serpas, a talented DP. We both shared an interest in making El Salvador more of a film destination, so when he brought me on as Producer for this small-budget launch film, we knew it would be the perfect project to take internationally. Originally from El Salvador, Raul already had connections with a production company we’d heard great things about. 

Our Director, Blaine Hogan, had a vision for a very art-centric production, so finding the right Art Directors was essential because it would make or break the project. I was fortunate to have two fantastic production managers and right-hand guys, Toto and Tito, who worked with me to put a crew together. Thanks to their connections, Lourdes and Adriana came on as our Art Directors, and these amazing ladies blew us away by working tirelessly to execute elaborate art pieces and providing breathtaking design for every set.

Due to the incredibly fast turnaround on our post production, we worked against the clock over the holidays to meet our deadline. Both the pre and post production processes relied heavily on WhatsApp, and frame.io, which made the post production workflow seamless. David Molina, based in Miami, composed original music written to the film itself and did an amazing job working off of the rough cut for the majority of his time. Meanwhile, the director and myself managed the collaboration from Chicago, while our Colorist worked from LA, the DP and Editor operated out of Virginia, and our Visual Effects artist worked from El Salvador.

Producing this project was an amazing experience, and I’m proud of everyone’s hard work. The whole team brought their A-game. I look forward to future film projects with Raul, Blaine and the team in El Salvador.
